  The ignorance and intolerance of homophobic America, is a huge part of the reason this film was made. Harvey Milk was a human being, who stood up and voiced his opinions. All of this during a time when it was less acceptable to be a gay man, let alone a politically influencing man. The movie ends with raw footage of the actual candle light procession which supersedes his funeral.
