I tried to watch Happy-Go-Lucky. I tried a couple times, could not get in to it.

HGL is a great film, and Leigh did a great job with the cast and material. Luved It. Sally is a SMASH HIT.

I love Mike Leigh but prefer when he focuses on the negative aspects of life like in "Naked" which was a masterpiece IMHO. I found Happy Go Lucky incredibly annoying and actually wondered if she was just supposed to be Mentally Handicapped. She was such an idiot in that movie and it was completely boring and pointless. The only good character was the misanthropic driving instructor.

Maybe after "Juno", the Oscars got tired of honoring garish fashionistas.

I found it annoying at the beginning, but found it very satisfying by the end. I can see why it may not have won some moviegoers over, but that's Mike Leigh for ya--and this time he went more out on a limb thematically than usual. (And Eddie Marsan also should have been nominated as Poppy's angry, bitter driving instructor.)

One of the most boring movies I've ever seen. There was no point. Who cares about some womans boring ass life. How about something interesting happening in the movie, I kept waiting for it then I just wanted it to end. Waste of time. I cant believe its even being mentioned.
