We don’t want to leave the theater feeling let down by the guy we were rooting for an hour and a half. Hollywood knows this but they sometime blow it. I know it is life, but in the business of selling movies you want the audience to be captivated and inspired. Think of ET for instance: would it have been a blockbuster if in the end the little fella died?

(CONT'D) How about Pretty Woman? Would it have been a smash if she didn’t get her man? The Wrestler could have been our hero for all the dads that blew it with their children. Instead the writer chooses to let it end on a tragic note.

Peggy, I know what it takes to make a movie and particularly to write a screenplay. The movie was weak the theme was not engaging enough for the protagonist did not evolve. He did reunite with his daughter, but he blew it. The ending was tragic and left me (the audience) feeling let down. In my opinion it would have been a much greater success at the box office if the ending was uplifting. We do

Lorrie. . .Obviously you have no idea what goes into making a movie, let alone the skill involved of the actor. Mickie Rourke "played" the broken down, drug- crazed wrestler, and, yes. . .he was the Hollywood has-been, but please give him tremendous credit for the role he brought to life. We could all write a book about the drug use and abuse in this world today and the lives lost beca
