Milk

Nominee Image for Milk

Nominations:

In 1977, a brash and indomitable camera shop owner named Harvey Milk made history. After two previous failed attempts, Milk finally became elected as a San Francisco city supervisor, making him the first openly gay man to hold public office in the United States. This biographical film, starring Oscar winner Sean Penn, looks deeply into the later life of the self-styled "Mayor of Castro Street," including his election and his assassination the following year.

He is a true camileion. Not all people gush w/ wifey upon learning of his win. Did you see him grab her face and kiss her square on the lips while talking on the "red" after? He's bold, somtimes over the top but talented, out spoken and REAL.... Who else showed up to remind people of the Fema Gov't let down abandonment in New Orleans? After that, just hotter to me. Gay movie or no

yeah, yeah, (yawn) - gays, civil rights, yada yada.... but let's see- Sean Penn prance around and tug at our liberal heartstrings, or Mickey Rourke sweating bullets and ACTING at a level, maybe this year matched only by the effort of Frank Langella. You want social commentary and tolerance??? Watch Gran Torino......a GREAT movie-

Sean Penn did a fabulous job portraying a character developed by the writer, and nothing more. I read that Harvey Milk was NOT a nice person, which the movie neglected to truthfully portray. I can certainly understand that Milk probably had to have incredibly thick skin considering the times, but come one. That being the case, it is important to understand we are watching historic fiction.

Sean Penn believes people really listen to him, I heard his words but who cares about his personal beliefs or knows if he really believes himself. He is selfish, grow up and take care of your family dude!!!! Did anyone see how he barely kissed his wife before pushing her away to be able to get on stage. Just asking!!!!

I guess Lora is in love with Sean.... Anyway, society has already 'been there-done that' with this movie topic - for real. Thos people have shafted their communities with their actions as much as they felt their beliefs were by the peple before them. A fake message from a fake actor to garner an award. Very expected.
